Speed of Sound

Sound travels faster through metal and brick than it does in air. To demonstrate this find a brick or metal building. Have one student place one ear on the building. Have another student stand around a corner and loudly talk into the brick of the building. The student with his or her ear on the building should hear the message in the ear placed on the building first before he hears it with the air exposed ear.
